KT SiteTechs started by installing industrial key cabinets in to secure areas to look after large numbers of keys, usually in motor dealers, letting agencies and accommodation blocks such as universities and nurse accommodation.

As the digital era descended, these cabinets became more technical and incorporated other items such as pagers and laptops which in turn required charging points.

Then access control systems became more common place on the storage units, to keep records of authorised users but without compromising security.

Using Personal Identification Numbers, access cards & fingerprint readers then became the usual way to identify users as smart software and linked connectivity  became more common place, with intelligent algorithms learning user habits.

CCTV & RFID also became more widespread as secondary and tertiary backups and additional authentication became required in more secure environments such as banks and keyholding or security companies.

Using the internet to programme, link and back up customer sites also became the norm, with Wi-Fi and cloud hosting adding to the customer experience, often proving challenging in some areas.

Cabinets often incorporate SIM cards and wireless routers to receive & transmit data.
